Did You Know?
In 1987 a cross between Eurasiers and Bobtails (Old English Sheepdogs) made for some very unique characteristics and good overall health in the breed dubbed the Elo (short for Eloschaboro derived from the names of the crossed breeds). As breeding continued a lack of sufficient Eurasiers soon became a problem. For this reason, Chow Chows and later Samoyeds and Dalmatians were added to expand the Elo genetic base.
The Elo was bred for behavioural attributes rather than appearance standards, so the latter can vary quite a bit from dog to dog. Generally speaking, they have a long and quite beautiful coat with a large plume of a tail that curves over their back. Their dense undercoat lends to adaptability to harsh climates and their colouring is usually white with chocolate, black, grey, or red.
